Privacy policy
What this site collects and why
The short version:
- If you fill out the contact form, I get what you typed so I can reply.
- I use analytics tools to see how people use the site, including session recordings with everything you type masked out.
- I don't sell your data, and I don't use it for anything other than running this site and my business.
- Email danrogers@yourdigitalanalyst.com any time to see or delete your info.
Who I am
This site, yourdigitalanalyst.com, is run by Dan Rogers, doing business as Your Digital Analyst, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. When this policy says "I" or "me," that's who it means.
What I collect
Info you give me. When you send the contact form, I collect your name, email, company, team type, what you need help with, and your message. That's used to reply to you and talk about working together, nothing else.
Info collected automatically. When you visit, analytics tools record things like the pages you view, what you click, how you scroll, your browser and device type, the referring site, and an approximate location based on your IP address (city or region level). Some visits are recorded as session replays, which show how the page was used. All form inputs are masked in those recordings, so anything you type isn't captured in them.
Tools that process data for me
- Formspree receives contact form submissions and forwards them to my email.
- PostHog (US cloud) handles product analytics and session replay. Its traffic runs through a subdomain of this site (snout.yourdigitalanalyst.com) before reaching PostHog.
- Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics help me manage tracking and measure traffic and form submissions.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and may log basic request data, like IP addresses, for security and performance.
- Google Fonts serves the site's fonts, which means your browser requests them from Google.
Each of these companies handles data under its own privacy policy. Some of them process data in the United States.
Cookies and similar storage
PostHog and Google Analytics use cookies and browser storage to tell visits apart and recognize returning visitors. They don't identify you by name unless you give me your info through the form. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work fine. Ad and tracker blockers will also stop most of this.
What I don't do
- I don't sell or rent your personal information.
- I don't share it with anyone except the tools listed above, or if the law requires it.
- I don't currently run ads on this site or use its data for ad targeting.
How long I keep it
Contact form messages stay in my email and Formspree for as long as they're useful for our conversation and my business records. Analytics data is kept for the retention period of each tool. You can ask me to delete your info at any time.
Your choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or get a copy of your personal information, or to object to how it's used. Wherever you live, just email me at danrogers@yourdigitalanalyst.com and I'll take care of it.
Kids
This site is for businesses and isn't meant for anyone under 16. I don't knowingly collect info from children.
Changes
If I change how the site handles data, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
